Major Movers on April 25; QCOM, AKAM, ZNGA, FFIV, DOW, CAKE

Shares of Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ: QCOM) plunged about 5.50% in early trade after the semiconductor company, late last evening, provided lower-than-expected guidance  on fiscal third quarter earnings although its outlook on revenue exceeded Wall Street’s expectation.  For the fiscal second quarter, Qualcomm posted adjusted earnings of $1.17 a share, in-line with analysts’ expectation. Revenue stood at $6.12 billion, beating analysts’ consensus estimate of $6.09 billion.

Zynga Tops Q1 Estimates But Q2 Outlook Disappoints, Shares Tumble (ZNGA)

Shares of Greenbrier Companies Inc. (NYSE: GBX) slumped on Thursday after the rail road freight car equipment maker reported that fiscal second quarter profit plunged by 22 percent due to a 27% fall in deliveries. The Company reported a profit of $13.8 million or 45 cents a share compared to net income of $17.7 million or 57 cents a share, in the same quarter of last year. Revenue for the quarter contracted to $432.2 million from $458.2 million.

Zynga Downgraded by BofA Merrill Lynch to “Neutral” from “Buy” (ZNGA)

Shares of Zynga Inc. (NASDAQ: ZNGA) slumped about 4% on Wednesday after Justin Post, an analyst at Bank of America Merrill  Lynch slashed rating on the social game maker’s stock to “neutral” from “buy”, citing “less valuation upside”.

Shares of Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ) slumped about 11% after the company reported that its losses in the fiscal fourth quarter widened as it shipped fewer number of solar modules. Since last one year, Canadian Solar’s top line has felt the pinch in the backdrop of lackluster demand for its solar panel and equipment. Due to excess supply of low priced solar panels from China, prices of wafer and modules have fallen sharply.
