Apple has displaced Coca Cola to become the world’s most valuable brand, according to very closely watched annual brand survey, conducted by Interbrand. Interbrand, which is subsidiary of Omnicom Group, said in its report that Apple’s strong leadership, huge fan base and a gigantic brand appeal were some of the factors which helped the iPad maker to capture the No. 1 position. The survey, which also analyzes financial position of a company, put Coca Cola in the third position while Google was rated as the second most valuable company. The top 10 positions in the list featured mostly tech companies.

Apple’s iPhone 5S and 5C Posts Record Sales
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) sold record 9 million iPhones over the weekend. The tech giant’s two latest models, iPhone 5S and 5C went on to sales on Friday. The demand for the 5S model, the high end version, has been so strong that some customers had to go disappointed from Apple Stores due to supply constraints. The sales were almost double the previous record. Analysts had forecasted that the Company would sell 5 million to 7.75 million units of 5S and 5C models. Both these models were simultaneously launched in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Puerto Rico.
Apple Inc. Stock Falls About 5% After New IPhone Launch
Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) latest iPhone 5 C, which was unveiled on Tuesday, has failed to excite analysts. Analysts argue that iPhone 5C is priced too high for gaining traction in emerging markets, sending shares down about 5% in regular trading hours on Wednesday. Still, many analysts are positive that the stabilization of margins and company’s aggressive product launch plan will bolster earnings. On Wednesday, 3 major financial firms, Bank of America Corp., UBS AG and Credit Suisse Group AG, all downgraded the stock.
Samsung To Soon Launch “Galaxy Gear” Smart Watch: Financial Times
The battle to bring new high tech gadgets first is intensifying between two major players, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Samsung. However, it seems that the South Korean Company is outpacing its American rival. According to Financial Times, quoting sources familiar with the matter, Samsung is set to launch its new wearable device, “Galaxy Gear” smart-watch, as early as September—just before the IFA trade show in Berlin. Apple is also working hard for its “iWatch” but sources say that the device will not be launched this year.

Shares of Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX) have fallen sharply in trading today after the Los Gatos, California-based company reported that it added less-than-forecast subscribers in the U.S. during the second quarter. NFLX added 630,000 subscribers in the U.S. during the quarter ended June 30, 2013. The company ended the quarter with 28.6 million U.S. subscribers, which fell short of consensus forecast of 29.9 million. Looking ahead, the company expects to add 690,000 to 1.49 million new streaming customers in the U.S. in the third quarter.
